Beyond Legal: My 19th Birthday

Cheers to my last teen year!

While Taylor Swift was too busy flaunting her moves to the songs she performed at the MoA Arena last June 6, here I was with my own shimmering spotlight—the star of my favorite people’s birthday surprise.

I was all too unsuspecting, no giveaway of any sort was felt all throughout the planning, so kudos to everyone for that. I’m usually keen on smelling a surprise before it happens. But this time, I was positively unaware that something was going on. Imagine my confusion when I saw Mikee waiting for me near the main entrance of the Mall of Asia, holding a rolled-up brown paper in a fancy cylindrical container. Then and there, I knew where it came from. Who else would use that Papemelroti recycled brown paper and make it look so pretty, it could’ve been a debut invitation? Anyone, I guess. But for a surprise, it’s definitely Christiane. Honest to goodness, I have no idea where that guy milks his creative juices from. (WARNING: Long post ahead)

Alvea’s selfie diary

Day 1 & 2 – CLA

I figured this post would be more aptly titled as such, since it’s all mostly comprised of Alvea’s SOTJ photos, selfies, and wefies. See this post for the confession of failure and earnest apology.

The LPEP Diaries: Third run

Day 1 & 2 – COB

I would like to begin with a heartfelt apology

I’m sorry.

I don’t think I’m very good at this documenting thing (there is a reason why I’m the HR, and not the R&D Core, after all), and I have failed to capture meaningful photos these past few days. Also, this is quickly becoming Alvea’s selfie diary instead of The LPEP Diaries. Again, I am sorry.

But to make up for the lack of visuals, I will attempt to narrate the proceedings of this day.

Photo #1 I took a selfie, cos I liked my sariling sikap braid.
Photo #2 I lost my voice and so popped this candy into my mouth, hoping to remedy the “horseness”.
Photo #3 LAmbs as Perico’s staff. The food still wasn’t ready for several blocks, even though it was already WAY past lunchtime, so we decided to help in the preparation of the bento boxes in order to speed up the progress. Thus, the rice team and veggies team were established.
Photo #4 The briefing for Day 2, lo and behold.

Confession Alright, I admit. I failed horribly in documenting the LPEP runs. Consequently, I have to cram all posts with what little collection of photos I have (as of May 20, 2014; 12:40 AM) and suffer an apparent lack of quality and sensible content. I acknowledge that all of this is due to my chronic laziness, of which I am quite certain will one day kick me out into the streets–cold, homeless, and still stubbornly lazy.

P.S. I am itching to fix the color balance of that third photo because the hue of our skin makes us look like we’ve been sunbathing in the beach somewhere for hours instead of scooping rice for the privileged kids of DLSU (but then again, lazy).

The LPEP Diaries: Second run

Day 1 – GCOE

Being a runner is pretty swell, but being a runner with a radio is just the awesomest ever. Since I wasn’t able to take much photos, I combined both days into a single post. Again, I’m letting the snapshots talk for themselves. (because lazy)

The LPEP Diaries: First run

Day 2 – CCS/SOE

For day 2 the LAmbs received these awesome armbands–which were also given to the froshies as a welcoming gift–courtesy of Darlington Exped | Unrelated Sarah & I wore Keds today, so #footselfie ❤

Since the froshies go straight to the classrooms during the second day, there’s usually time for a few ice breakers among the early comers before the faci arrives. In our case, we played Green & White first then Bahay, Baboy, Bagyo. S11 happened to be very enthusiastic, so I had no problem hyping them up in the morning. Of course, consequences were prepared for those who become the “it”.

The LPEP Diaries: First run

Day 1 – CCS/SOE

I was an orientor today! I handled the block S11 along with my partner, Samuel Chiu. And out of sheer sloth, I will let the photos speak for themselves. A lot of events happened this day, some being particularly unfortunate, but I’m very glad we survived everything. Looking forward to the rest of LPEP!

The LPEP Diaries: Residency

The last day

It was already nearing noon when I arrived at school for residency. The previous day’s rain savaged the banners that were already put up along SJ Walk and needed to be replaced, but aside from this, things were going pretty well at that time.

LAmb kits were completed, sponsors’ flyers were sorted and inserted between the green guides, and a box of Power Pops was opened for the LAmbs. By lunchtime, Gella, Jiro, and I went to Recto to have our LAmb manuals printed. It was a long ride going there, and I felt really bad when we couldn’t accomplish what we set out for. The printing service was way out of budget, and so we had to go back to Taft tired and empty-handed.

Thankfully though, the day didn’t end too dismal despite the unfortunate set of events that transpired. There’s only 2 days left before LPEP and we sure could use all the good vibes we can gather for the big event.
